Flagstaff isn't exactly known for its excellence in Chinese food, but China Garden is a pretty fair shot! I called in a to go order and was told it would be about ten minutes. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and pleasant. I got to the restaurant and my order was ready when they said it would be which is always a plus in my book. I ordered the crab wanton appetizer and the Mongolian beef dinner. It was a lot of food, coming with rice, soup, 2 fried shrimp and an egg roll, so great bang for your buck. I'm a snob about crab wantons because they're my favorite thing to order. China Garden's wantons were crisp, hot and delicious with generous filling. Rice was just normal steamed rice, and the Mongolian beef was tasty and I like a lot of sauce, which they delivered. The food was enough to split with my husband as full two meals and still have leftovers. The only negative remark is how worn and outdated the outside and inside of the restaurant is. Torn entrance tarp, tired non existent decor on the inside. I wouldn't go there on a date- the atmosphere on the inside is lacking. Just a little updating would go such a long way to making it look as good as the food is.

One of the first places I tried in Flag was China Garden. Sun was set, headed to my hotel and this was next to the Starbucks on Milton. I grabbed a coffee and inquired about the restaurant to the barista, they stated it was quite good the times they had gone. After getting my coffee I walked next door and made my order of beef fried rice. Not having cash on me I used my debit card and as the worker rang up the charges I noticed the small print out hidden in the back corner stating they charge an extra four percent on card purchases. In this day and age charging your patrons card fees is inexcusable
Other than myself and staff, the building was empty. I sat and waited about five minutes before going to wash my hands in their facility. I went through the door and was greeted to a poorly cleaned walk way and even worse washroom. The commode was filthy and the sink basin seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned since they opened their doors. To top it all off there was no hand soap. When I went to mention it to the worker they simply said 'Oh, okay' and made their way into the kitchen
After another five minutes of waiting a new worker emerged with my food. I made my exit and decided to eat outside the Starbucks on one of their tables. The rice was piping hot, perhaps it was microwaved? It was near colourless and wasn't fried in the least. The meat wasn't at all warm and very tough to chew. It tasted nothing like fried rice and it seemed as if they had all the ingredients already cooked and simply mixed them together. It felt as if I was eating boiled beef with some white rice that had a few specks of scrambled egg and a few droplets of soy sauce. I will not be returning to this 'restaurant' -

This is the third Chinese restaurant I've been to in flagstaff, and always come to the town all the time.. but I'm not impressed with their customer service, cleanliness or food.. I guess it was my personal experience..
I ordered the Broccoli and Beef and the beef consistency was oatmeal soft, and didn't have a "cooked" kinda chew to it.. most of the rice was hard and the broccoli was a bit under cooked.. I know this would be my first and last time at this particular restaurant.. -

Life savor! we tried to order for 20 people at Panda Express across the street and they were awful unkind and unhelpful. Then we came over here and they were amazing! Super willing to make as much good as we needed in 20 minutes vs pandas estimated 2 hours!!! Yay!!!

I had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice.
The fried rice was very dry and unappealing. It tasted days old and flavorless. The chicken itself was also dry, the sauce was subpar. It did not taste sour at all and the sweetness was minimal.
My friend had the sesame chicken and her stomach was hurting hours later. While another friend had a bad case of #2 constantly. Edit: (one day later) Constantly #2 and nauseating.
The fried dumplings fillings tasted plain, almost veggie like. The dumpling itself was not crispy nor charred in the slightest.
I think it's dumb that if we share/try each other dishes we get charged $2, per dish shared. I get that the entree serving is meant for 1 person but being charged $2 if I try a piece of beef off my friends plate is ridiculous.
If you order out you do not get the free soup.
